Aside from the realm of current public opinion, nothing can be more compelling or convincing in benchmarking achievements than the judgement of history. There are certain individuals or things that can and do outlive the passage of time. The list can go on and on, but in terms of personalities, most Pinoys will include the late former Philippines President Corazon Aquino ("Tita Cory" to most Pinoys) and her husband-hero former Philippines Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr, - for their being veritable icons of democracy - among the illustrious names who have paved the way for the next generation, including their children (eg, Noynoy Aquino, Kris Aquino).
